Every
year the students at Alta School participate in the K.C.U.S.D
Oral Interpretation Festival at Reedley High School.
The festival is held in November and students from throughout
the district participate. At
Alta, students in grades 3, 4, and 5 participate in this very exciting
event. Beginning in
October, the students select their poems and scheduled practices are
held at school. At least
two weeks before the festival date, tryouts are held here at Alta
School in the cafeteria. Each
school is allowed to have up to eight entries, which can be an
individual or a small group. On
the night of the festival the students perform their selections in
front of a panel of three judges.
Based on the judges evaluations, the participants receive a
rating of Superior, Excellent, or Good.
For those students who enjoy getting up and performing in front
of an audience, this is a wonderful opportunity!
